You Might Be An Otaku If…

I was gonna do a tirade on the anime companies collective bitching about fansubs(and after seeing Romo score the game winning touchdown with 22 seconds left, I was definitely in the mood for it), but then I saw Jeff Foxworthy doing his “You Might Be A Redneck” shtick when I was channel surfing. After laughing my ass off, the urge to hate dissipated. So I decided to do my very own list of things that I have seen or done(allegedly) that are signs that you might be an otaku:

If you have walked a half mile in the rain to an anime store just so you can get first crack at the videos for rent, you might be an otaku.

If you have spent a whole day at said store doing nothing but debating Evangelion, you might be an otaku.

If you can’t recall the last time you watched a live-action TV show in English, you might be an otaku.

If you ever named one of  your cats Artemis and repeatedly deny that you named it after the cat from Sailor Moon, you might be an otaku.

If you have annoyed the hell outta people by continuously singing “Cha-La Head Cha-La”over and over, you might be an otaku.

If you watch Otaku No Video and the thought of being an homeless illegal immagrant in Japan doesn’t not only scare you, but seems like an awesome idea, you might be an otaku.

If you by Pocky by the carton, you might be an otaku.

If you bought over 100 bucks worth of vending figures to get the one missing from your collection, you might be an otaku.

If you ever asked for a Saturday off so you could go to the monthly Animania screening, you might be an otaku.

If ever thought, “Y’know, redoing the Sky Girls theme with Gundam Models sounds like a totally awesome idea,” you might be an otaku.

If you ever had a choice between buying food or buying that Master Grade Nu Gundam model kit and you chose the Gundam, you might be an otaku.

If the thought of watching dubbed anime makes you wanna vomit, you might be an otaku.

If you ever downloaded a series, then bought the DVD’s when it got licensed, you might be an otaku.

If you ever read so much manga that you just start reading any book from right-to-left, you might be an otaku.

If you ever wrote a Mary Sue, you might be an otaku.

If you can read and speak Japanese fluently due to reading nothing but untranslated manga and anime, you might be an otaku.

If you ever convinced your girlfriend to cosplay Kekko Kamen, you are totally awesome and I want photographical evidence…*ahem* Uh, I mean, you might be an otaku.

If you are one of endless number of fangirls who post nothing but Naruto or Kingdom Hearts yaoi everytime I browse Deviantart, you might be an otaku. Also, you need to fucking stop.

If you ever played an anime soundtrack while at work, you might be an otaku.

And finally, if you post a comment and try to guess which ones I did(allegedly), or have one of your own to share, you might be an otaku.

I will tell you right now that I have done(allegedly) four of the things on this list. Try to guess which ones. Laters.

Things I Am Thankful For, 2007 Edition

This year, in the year of our Lord/Allah/Great Xenu, 2007, I am thankful for the following things:

The awesomeness that is Gurren-Lagaan.

The awesome, yet not Gurren-Lagaan awesome of Manabi Straight.

The Lions totally not sucking this year(That I am REALLY thankful for.)

That Hollywood still has yet to discover (i.e. ruin the career of) Ryuhei Kitamura.

That the Yankees failed yet again to win the World Series.

The new Blue Beetle comic book A.K.A. One of the only comics worth the paper it’s printed on.

That the Naruto filler finally ended. I couldn’t care less about the show, but even I was sick of it…

The Boondocks: Season 2

Torchwood.

That Battlestar Galactica: Razor is 2 days away.

That Sunrise admits that Gundam 00 sucks cause they only care about pleasing the fangirls and making money….Oh wait, that my Things That Would Happen In a Fair and Perfect World scenario.

Yes, there’s the life and health thing, too, but those are a given.

Reintroductions Are So Bloody Nesscessary…

Damn, it’s been a while hasn’t it? Way too long. So I might as well just restart the blog altogether. So, to start off: Hi, my name’s Cobrafire. I watch anime. I have watched a ridiculously unhealthy amount of anime over the past 15(!) years(not so much these days, I have to have some semblance of a life….) How much you ask? Well, how’s this for starters? Keep in mind, however, that this is an incomplete list since I only started it several weeks ago. I also draw as well. The one major problem I have however, is trying balance the two.

Anyway, welcome to my humble blog. Though I’ll be talking mostly about anime, I’ll be also talking about other stuff too, and all categorized in one list.

Things I Will Talk About In This Blog

Anime. More specifically, what anime shows are awesome(Gurren Lagaan, Heroic Age), what you should avoid(Most harem anime, anything based on a porn game), and what’s meh(pretty much anything else).

Comic books and manga

Gaming(Though not as much these days)

Generally, anything that makes me wanna go into a rant.(Example: How in the hell can the top heavy ladies in Dragonaut: The Resonance can move like that without spillage. Especially Garnet.)

Things I Will NOT Talk About In This Blog

Personal stuff. For starters, I rather not, and secondly I’m neither 14 and full of angst.

Politics. I may talk about a issue if it deserves a rant, but other than that, no. Besides, there are people who can do it better.

Now, I may say some things that you agree with. I will also say shit that will piss you off. But the one thing I will not do is bullshit you. If I screw up and you catch me, I’ll own up to it.

So yeah, that pretty much it. I’m gonna try to update regularly, but depending on the situation, It might be once a week. So, until then…
