Has This Ever Happened To You?

You sit down, getting ready to watch the latest episodes of your favorite shows, when all of a sudden……BAM! You find yourself  not really into the show. At first I thought it was just the show being boring, but when I started to finish up DMC and Mnemosyne, I felt the same kind of melancholy. Then it hit me: Maybe I suffering from Total Anime Overload™, the end result of cramming close to a year’s worth of anime shows in two months.

So I decided make this an Anime-free week.

That’s right, starting on Monday, I haven’t seen or downloaded any Anime, even though my latest subscriptions on Fansub.tv has just popped up. So what have I been doing with my time you ask. playing some Legend of Zelda. And some Metroid Fusion. Also I’m currently rewatching season 1 of Torchwood, which is even more  awesome since all the cussing and sexual content is all intact. But do not worry! I should be fully recovered by next week, when I’ll find something that annoys me and complain about it. And now here’s a Strike Witches pic I found on Danbooru to end this post.

See ya next week!

Once, Twice, Three Times The Disturbing……

I only have three words to say about this one.

What. The. Fuck!?

No, really. that’s all I gotta say on this matter More details are here.

Me during most of the season........

Me during most of the season........

On December 21, Two Thousand And Eight, The Detroit Lions managed to Fail on scale so epic, it’s mind-boggling, getting their asses handed to them 42-7 and going 0-15. No amount of fail boats could carry that much. Therefore until further notice, I am taking Highlander 2 Level measures and denying the existence of the Detroit Lions. In short, whenever anyone asks about how bad the Lions are, my response will be “Detroit has a pro football team?” I encourage everyone else to do the same.

LotGH – My Thoughts So Far

Awesome Show is Awesome.

Awesome Show is Awesome.

Spoiler Warning: If you haven’t watched LotGH to this point or at all(Shame on you!), don’t read this post.

So, I’m At Episode 26(Shoulda been 25, damn cliffhangers) of Legend of the Galactic Heroes, and I have to say that I enjoy it so far(which is a good thing, especially since I got 84 episodes to go). In fact, I should be ashamed of myself that it took me this long to watch it in the first place, but there are a lot of shows that are critically acclaimed and Adored by fans everywhere that I still haven’t seen yet, so I’m not really that ashamed.

My opinions so far:

  1. There is way too much Man-crushing for my liking. Admiring your opponent is one thing, but damn, at times it feels like I’m watching Kizuna with spaceships.

  2. If I became an Admiral in the Navy(Heaven Forbid), I would take the Yang Wenli approach to commanding. Unfortunately, I really don’t like brandy with my tea.

  3. Reinhard promoting Kircheis was a mistake. Not that he’s not capable, but that Kircheis serves as Reinhard’s conscience at times and keeps him from doing really stupid stuff like act without thinking, something that I predict will happen a lot from now on.

  4. Ya know who Job Trunhilt reminds me of? A competent Dubya. What’s even scarier is that I saw way to many parallels between the Free Planets Alliance and the U.S. circa 2003, only without the armed militia hunting down the dissenters.

  5. Why do the characters I like end up dying!? Lap, Jessica, Ovlesser, and Kircheis. Goddammit, why did they have to kill Kircheis!? However, it will be interesting to see Reinhard’s actions now that his conscience is gone.

  6. Another thing I think is real cool is that both sides uses axes and swords despite all the PEW-PEW lasers and whatnot. Old School Violence FTW!

All in all, I’m actually enjoying the show, even though it lacks the epic tea making that’s in Tytania. Even though is as old as I am, its one of those shows that manages to withstand the test of time and I can’t wait to see how everything turns out(And if you guys spoil it for me, I will kill you and use you soul as a condom :) )

One Step Forward, Two Steps Back…..

Okay, so I lied about my next post being about LotGH, but I had to get this off me chest now.

So I hear that a live action Cowboy Bebop movie is being made. Surprisingly, I’m not real bitter about that as you would think. See, unlike Dragonball, Cowboy Bebop is one of the very few animated shows on either side of the Pacific that could work as a live action movie, providing it has a suitable sized budget(Probably not a problem, since it’s a Sunrise show, and they would be stupid not have some stake in this). So I’m actually eager to see this movie when it comes out in 2011.

Then I hear that Keanu Reeves may be cast as Spike.

One step forward, two steps back.

Now don’t get me wrong, he could probably do a good job. Well that’s what I wanted to say, but then I saw Constantine(Which really wasn’t his fault but whoever casted him instead of an actual British actor) I just think Keanu seems outta place in 85% of the roles he’s given. But, I’ll reserve judgment on this until I see a trailer of the movie.

More later….

Y’know, I plum forgot to mention the concept of this, but then again it pretty obvious. I essentially show all the YouTube clips that I came across that made me go, “What the fuck!?” and share them with you. You’re also thinking, “How in the hell can you top Melencholy Of  Balalaika, cause that was like out there.”

Breakdancing Hitler, I choose you!

So, apparently, this was a music video for the film To Be Or Not To Be, which I thought was alright. I mean it’s no Young Frankenstein or Blazing Saddles mind you, but it’s a helluva lot better than Dracula: Dead And Loving It.

As for the video itself, let me say this: It makes Rappin’ Rodney look like The Message.

I also won’t go into the irony that a Jewish guy is rapping as Hitler, cause that should obvious to everyone.

Will actually talk about something animu related next time (LotGH) so until then…

Cobrafire’s Open Letter To Dragonball Fans Worldwide

Dear Dragonball fans in Japan and the rest of the world,

On behalf of Dragonball fans in the United States, I would like to say one thing.

We are so, so sorry….

Trust us, we are as disgusted as you are that this piece of shit has managed to see the light of day. How awful is this movie gonna be,you ask?  Let me count the ways:

1) Out of character Goku for TEH LOSE.  Goku doubting whether or not he’s up for saving the world? That like an anorexic Lina Inverse.

2)Which brings us to the script. Cause whoever wrote this movie obviously  never watched an episode of Dragonball, otherwise my intelligence wouldn’t have been insulted.

3)Deciding what’s worse, the makeup for Piccolo, or Goku’s “giant ape form”. Goddammit.

4)The fact that Ayumi Hamasaki will be forever linked to this movie, thus dashing her chances of mainstream success here in the states.

You would think Hollywood would have learned their lesson with Speed Racer. Or Godzilla. Or Guyver. Or Fist Of The North Star…come to think of it, no, no they haven’t.

So Dragonball fans all over the world, when you go and watch this movie in the Spring of ‘09, please do not hate us for allowing a timeless and beloved series to be desecrated and passing it off as a movie, but look on the Bright Side: At least it wasn’t directed by Uwe Boll.

Yours Truly,

Cobrafire

A Quick Something Re: Legend Of The Galactic Heroes

So, I just started watching it (I’m at episode 6 right now) so I got to ask: Is it really that easy to become a Admiral? Cause I counted like 15-20 so far. My guess is that there are many capable men to command a fleet or they really lowered the bar.

Also, Reinhard and Siegfried = Bromance before there was ever such a thing.

More later….

The Most Disturbing Thing I Saw On YouTube, Week 1

So yeah, I was Chillin’, checking out the MegaTokyo Fourms where I am l33t lurker(If there was such a rank, sigh….) When I end up in a discussion about Haruhi, or more accurately, a blantant excuse to post Haruhi images and random versions of Hare Hare Yukai. All in good fun. But the one thing that made me go “WHAT HAS SCIENCE DONE!” was this:

I would be stating the obvious that there are people out there with Final Cut Pro and way too much time on their hands so I won’t. At least they didn’t have them doing Hare Hare Yukai.

Well, back to work …..
